Phenomenology

Pheno

Phenomenology is the study of phenomena, in order to understand the nature of the universe, from the smallest to the biggest scale.

In pheno@TIFR, we work at the interface of theory and experiment. We construct and develop theoretical models; devise ways of testing their predictions at various high-energy experiments in particle colliders and in astronomical observations. We use the tools of contemporary theoretical and mathematical physics, including classical and quantum field theories and sometimes extensive computer simulations. We explore the connections between elementary particle interactions and the behaviour of the Universe at large, especially during its early stages.

Pheno@TIFR is, thus a meeting point for formal theory, direct experiment/observation, computation and speculative ideas.
