||I will discuss a recent review article by Blythe and Evans on determining the steady states of few non-equilibrium systems in matrix product form. I will start by introducing one dimensional Asymmetric Simple Exclusion Process (ASEP) with open boundaries and then determine the exact steady steady state using matrix product ansatz. Asymptotic analysis of this exact result shows that the model has different phases determined by the boundary conditions. Extension of the matrix method to more general models like Partially Asymmetric Exclusion Process (PASEP) with open boundaries and multispecies ASEP on ring will be discussed.
