The Feynman Lectures on Physics (vol 3) by R. P. Feynman, R. B. Leighton and M. Sands

Please make it a point to read the relevant sections of all four books soon after a lecture, and before the next lecture. The four books have quite distinct emphasis: Shankar's is a modern textbook, Landau's book is a classic, Cohen-Tannoudji touches on a large number of applications, and the Feynman lectures are wonderful for developing physical intuition.
