Punjabi/Mughlai:

Balwas

Near Bombay Hospital. Tandoori and kababs for less than 45/- [6/95]. Vegetables up to 30/- [6/95].

This place has made a comeback. The food has improved a lot since the mid and late 80's. There is no trace of the extra oil and masalas which often spoil Punjabi/Mughlai food. If you specify an ordinary nan, it is ordinary-- no butter or ghee slapped on to it.

The paneer handi is one of a kind. The chicken is definitely juicy. I remembered the dahi from the early 80's. Its still got the same creamy consistency.

On weekdays they seem to start running out of things by 8 pm. One has to place orders a little early.
