The Gothic Revival

The Gothic Revival style of architecture was the rage in England around the end of the 19th century, and reached Mumbai at that time. The most famous landmark in Mumbai, the Shivaji Terminus (the erstwhile Victoria Terminus) is the prime example of a Gothic Revival structure in Bombay.

The Indo-Saracenic Style

Developed around the beginning of the 20th century, the Indo-Saracenic style of architecture was widely used by two prolific architects in Mumbai. The icon of Bombay, the Gateway of India is built in this style.

Art Deco

The Art Deco style in architecture reached Mumbai around the 1930's. The whole precinct along the Marine Drive and west of the Oval Maidan was built in this style.
