Population Density

The changing population density of Bombay is shown in the maps below. Darker colours denote progressively higher population density. The data are available by Municipal wards. The highest density of 791 persons per acre were reached in parts of Bombay in 1961. The most congested parts of Bombay in 1901 already reached the population density that the rest of Bombay now has.
